Farthings

Situated on the North Norfolk coast in the small village of Thornham, this replacement dwelling draws on the material vernacular of the local area whilst also responding to the rugged coastal environment.

A masonry base containing all bedrooms and service areas anchors the building to the site allowing the lightweight slatted timber box to float above providing an unobstructed open living platform with views across the salt marshes to the North and private sun terrace to the South

The project was granted planning consent in Spring 2012.

"This design approach within this context, is considered to add interest to the built form and is of high quality which will make a positive contribution to the built environment."
